In order to measure the effectiveness, children will be recruited from school districts in Delaware. Students from the same classroom will either be given or not given access to the game in order to control for classroom level effects on motivation and learning outcomes. Students who did not receive access to the game will be compared to students who did on end-of-year geometry scores to test whether the game improves geometry scores. Every student will also receive a math motivation survey during three timepoints throughout the year to measure whether students who play the game have increased math and specifically geometry motivation. This survey and the student test scores will also be used in conjunction with the students’ behavior within the application to measure whether some behavior correlates with motivation or learning outcomes.
